Being a single mom is a choice.
There are many times it doesn’t feel like one…but being a single mom is a choice. I wake up every day and choose to take care of this one. I choose to love her. I choose to put her before myself. I choose to meet her with compassion instead of frustration. I choose to manage my mind when I am angry. I choose to have less creativity to allow brain space for her. I choose to cry when I need it. And I choose to do it again each day.
It is a choice because there are other options. Those options I would never take. But they are there. I choose this one. I choose her.
It’s important to remember that often hard things are also choices. Without that perspective, we are just a victim to our circumstances.
Everything is a choice.
