Can you believe October is only a few days away?! These colder days are a sure sign the year is coming to an end.
Let’s take a moment to reflect on the year together. Can you picture January 1?
What were your goals? What were you hopes? What were your dreams? What were you saying no to? What did you want to bring into this year? Dare I ask you how that fitness plan is going?
I’m with you. As I look over my own goals from the year I can see there are a few (a few dozen….) where I fell short. And quite frankly this reflection makes me feel like one big failure.
The smaller part of me is saying “eh, just wait for next year…NYE is right around the corner” but the bigger, stronger, aliver (?) side of me is saying “no, start now, hit the ground running so you can start the New Year fresh!”
So, what should we do?
We are going to own up to them. Make the list. Let it hurt.
And most importantly, cross off the things we no longer care about.
Here are a few of mine:
That goal to run a marathon this year? Done. Running a half was hell and a knee injury. This was a great goal, but one I can let go of.
The goal to create a coaching group and host webinars? That one hasn’t happened…yet. But this one is staying. In fact, this one NEEDS to stay.
What about the whole blogging my pregnancy thing? Well, 8 months in I haven’t done it so I really can’t authentically start it…but I can sense there is something in me that wants to share my perspective and story. This goal gets a revision: I will write 1 blog about my pregnancy and share all the learning, a-ha moments, fears, moments I wanted to rip the baby out of my body…all of it.
As you go through your own list and cross, cement and revise, make sure you are channeling that inner best friend who wants you to be the very best you can be – not the couch potato that wants to order pizza and lounge for the week. The higher part of you wants you to succeed more than anyone. Let that person run the show for these next 3 months, so she is also the one in charge when January 1, 2017 rolls around.
Don’t be afraid to ask for support. I am offering women low cost life coaching to help them clear out the 2016 cobwebs and see 2017 with clear, bright eyes. All you have to do is connect with me and we will hit the ground running together. Email me here!
