Each week there is a thread that sees to go through the majority of my coaching sessions. This week it is: honesty. Honesty with yourself. Honesty with those around you. Honesty in everything that you do. Most of the people I work with are honest with me. After all, if you are not honest with me, how could I help you?! But often, I can sense when someone is not really being honest with themselves. They either say what they *think* is the right thing to say or seem to be following along with a “should” of some kind. But I don’t want the PC answer on our calls. I don’t want to hear what you think you should say. I want to hear what you really want — what would light YOUR soul up. What YOU really think about something. I want coaching to be the place you say things you may even be afraid to say out loud because if you can say it to me, on a call, then you can start to say it to yourself in your life. So here is a practice to try. Next time you are unsure on how you feel about something, allow yourself the space to sit and talk it out with yourself. Not write it out. Talk it out. Just sit and let yourself speak and see what comes up. Be brave enough to say the things you would not want someone to hear. It may be frightening to sit and speak to yourself but I promise that more will come out than simply writing it out (but you can do that, too!)
